Project Assessment Draft Report - Summary
Regulatory Investment Test – Transmission – April 2026
South Morang Terminal Station (SMTS) is in South Morang in Melbourne’s northeastern suburbs in Victoria and supplies electricity to more than 161,523 customers within the AusNet Electricity Services Pty Ltd (AusNet) and Jemena Electricity Network (JEN) distribution service areas. This project relates to the transmission connection assets at SMTS and is subject to a regulatory investment test for transmission (RIT-T).
This project assessment draft report (PADR) is the second stage of the South Morang Supply Area RIT-T consultation process. During the PSCR consultation period, no non-network proposals or submissions were received from interested stakeholders. Therefore, AusNet and JEN have now prepared this PADR in accordance with clause 5.16 of the NER and section 4.3 of the RIT-T Application Guidelines. This report contains the assessment results of the credible options, providing draft conclusions on the proposed preferred option for addressing the identified need in the South Morang supply area.
AusNet and JEN welcome written submissions on the matters set out in this PADR. All submissions should be titled “South Morang Supply Area RIT-T” and directed to both [email protected] and [email protected] on or before 22nd May 2026.
